A Repetitive Military

November 27th, 2009

Today is around my ninetieth day on my 120 day deployment in Japan. So today has been rather uninteresting to myself. I woke up as usual at around midnight-thirty started my laundry, spoke to my wife on the phone, and once my laundry was finished, I went on a 3 mile run on the treadmill in my hotel’s fitness room. Then I went to work, sat around for about 5 hours waiting on jets to break so I could go fix them, didn’t happen, luckily I had my iPod to keep me company. Maybe tomorrow will hold something a little more interesting.

My cute puppy Mina

November 27th, 2009

My dog is a small sized German Spitz, her name is Mina. She’s around 9 months old, and weighs about 7 lbs. She absolutely loves to play! But since we are often very busy and not home, she lies on the couch by herself when no one’s home to play with her. She either sleeps or just walks around a bit. Sometimes I really wonder what she’s thinking when she’s really bored, and I do feel sorry for her sometimes. Her favorite things to do includes playing with her toys, catching thrown balls, chewing on dog snacks, jumping around, standing on two feet, biting you lightly, fooling around, etc. She likes cologne for dogs too. Although I feed her dog food, she loves to eat snacks and whatever we cook for meals, but I try not to let her have too much of our stuff, I know she can’t eat any chocolate, very bad for her stomach. I love Mina and hope she lives a very healthy and happy life.

Inexpensive Dog Toys

November 25th, 2009

There are many things you can buy that don’t cost $6 each and may last just as long. If you have a chew-happy dog who mangles toys until they’re no longer recognizable, try these suggestions:

Cheap headbands:  My dog LOVES cheap, stretchy cotton headbands that I buy at the Dollar Store in a pack of 3 or 4.  They’re great for playing tug-of-war and she likes trying to chew them up.  Once she chews through them, I just tie a knot in it and it’s good as new!
Dog tennis balls:  Get the ones made for dogs, not just regular tennis balls because it’s not safe or healthy for your dog to use “real” ones.  These “dog” tennis balls can be bought inexpensively at dollar stores and mass merchandisers, sometimes in the store’s “dollar section”.
Clearance dog items at non-pet stores:  Some stores carry limited amounts of pet care items, so the stuff ends up on clearance pretty regularly.  I found some cheap Christmas stockings for dogs that have lasted for a while. Try the front of any Old Navy store for out-of-season dog toys.
Discount stores:  Stores like TJMaxx, Marshalls, Ross, Big Lots, etc usually have a small selection of dog toys at MUCH lower prices than pet stores.

No physical friends anymore – but its fun!

A XBOX 360 showing the Ring of Death.

When I look back over the past year it’s come to my attention that I don’t seem to have any friends. Well I’ll rephrase that; I have friends just not any I see in person anymore. All because of a little friend I like to call Xbox 360. I’d love to say that it hasn’t taken over my life a little but that would be a lie. All my friends are now exclusive to Xbox live online play. I’m literally addicted. What could be more fun than casual chat with your friends and playing video games? I could and have sat there all night chatting tactics and catching up with friends. It’s like a free phone call but just much more fun.
