Without Words

The music I collect is of all genres: classical, metal, folk, techno just  to jot a few.  But my collection is missing something – words.  When it comes to music I gave up lyrics years ago.  All of my favorite songs now are instrumental.  Though they are instrumentals of all types – from Satriani to Joplin (Scott not Janis), from The Chieftains to Mozart.  To listen to someone else’s woes and wonders became too much for me.  Instead, I love the purity of the unburdened instruments.  I enjoy superimposing my own story onto the notes.  To choose music to match the weather or my own mood or the job at hand, unencumbered by language is great freedom.

Dogs make very good pets

March 29th, 2010

YouTube Preview Image They come in different breeds, different sizes, temperaments and even colors. You can choose your pet dog of your own choice, but if you take into account certain things, you can really become a good master and the dog will become your pet and also a good companion too. When you choose a dog, keep in mind the size of your house. If you live in apartments, it is better to choose the small varieties. Dogs which grow very tall and strong will not be suitable if you live in apartments. Small dogs are easy to handle as well as nice to look at. Dogs love to have their own places to sleep and rest in. Dog-houses with good dog beds in it would be ideal for your dog. They feel proud to have their own place and it shows in their happiness.

Fungus House

March 27th, 2010

I live in a house.  A big blue house.  It is a great house. Except for the fungus.

We moved into this house in the summer – a summer which just happened to be one of the wettest on record.  So wet, in fact, that the water in the basement, and the master bedroom, and the downstairs bedroom rose faster than we could keep up with it.  After much pumping, sealing, grading and praying we were high and dry. The next big storm had us inspecting everything and holding our breath.  Everything appeared to hold and we were relieved until the next morning.  There, about 2 inches inside the French doors in the dining room -  fungus!  Honest to goodness mushroom type fungus sprouted overnight in our not-as-dry-as-we-thought home.

Welcome Home to Chili’s

March 24th, 2010

I recently had dinner with my family at Chili’s, which is where we always go to celebrate a special occasion.  This time we had just picked our daughter up at the airport  after a two week absence during which her three younger brothers pined for her and whined at me every day.  (Yes my children actually like each other.)  The six of us filled one of those really long skinny booths that only Chili’s has and began several intense games of tic-tac-toe played in crayon on the kid’s menus.  We ordered all the same entrees we always do but with blackberry and strawberry lemonades.  Except for my thirteen year old son who orders their rootbeer because it comes in a bottle.
